Date: Wed, 19 Jun 1996 23:42:56 GMT From: Christopher Vaughan Subject: INT: The Adventurers: Arturo Adapts Reserved: Arturo, J. Thornwhires Esq. Bookseller (Kat) Arturo looked up from the rail. He felt sicker than he'd ever felt before, having never been on a ship in the open ocean. Every rise and fall, every sway and tilt made his stomach wrench in agony. Everything was changing so fast. First his brother was killed by Lionne, then they tried to kill him. Late that night he had gone to Don Lionne's home to kill him when everything went insane. A tiny woman with a giant lion attacked Lionne, and Arturo watched his only chance for revenge go up in smoke. They'd barely escaped with their lives, and even that was only accomplished by some arcane means. The little man with the books did something. For some reason, the little man kept looking over at him. Finally, he went below, leaving Arturo to himself and his growing sea-sickness. A few times the others had come over to say hello, but he looked away. It wasn't his choice to be there, and he didn't plan on sticking around. He smelled food below decks and his stomach, which had been empty days before he started to vomit, grumbled uncomfortably. Arturo made a small bed for himself and laid down by the rail, falling into a fitful sleep. The little man's footsteps were soft as he walked over to the thief. The boy was curled up into a little ball, having pulled a piece of canvas over himself for warmth. The boy didn't know of his destiny, and that was the way it should be. He placed a plate of biscuits and a bottle of water by Arturo's head. It wasn't exactly haute cuisine, but it was probably all the boy could keep down. He rubbed his hand gently over Arturo's long, black hair, then walked away. Under his touch, Arturo seemed to settle down into a deep, restful sleep. _____________________________ This has been a message from: Chris Vaughan || space.cowboy@worldnet.att.net rrnn \\ \\ "I can make it disappear, have no fear!" || || - Red Hot Chilli Peppers // // //// V/
