"Holy vanishing acts!" Robin exclaimed. "What happened?" Catwoman asked. "Where'd he go?" "I'm right here," a deep, rich voice answered. "Glad to get out of that form." "It's the Shadow!" they all said in unison. "Yes. The Santa Claus was just a decoy. We're being watched." "By who?" Batman asked. "I'm not sure, I think I've seen it somewhere before. I think we lost it." "It?" Catwoman wondered. "Yes. Some small creature. It followed you when you returned from the swamp planet." "How did you know?" "The Shadow always knows," the Shadow smiled at her. Catwoman smiled shyly, then looked at Batman. Her thoughts became confused. She averted her gaze to outside the car window to the passing buildings. "Where are we going?" Batman asked. "Why, to Two-Face's hideout, of course. That's where the party is afterall." "I knew that," Batman said. "I just wanted to make sure my protege and the devious Catwoman knew it, too." "Oh, c'mon, Catwoman doesn't look *that* devious. She looks so... innocent." Catwoman blushed and kept her eyes on the road. "Well, looks can be deceiving. She tried to blackmail the unicorn and the Lady and if it weren't for me and Robin, she would have been able to do so." "Where *is* Alice and the unicorn?" Robin asked, a worried look on his face. "Don't worry," the Shadow held up his hand. "They're right beside the cab. I'm communicating with the unicorn and she's following my directions." Robin looked out the window and was relieved to see the unicorn and the Lady within a few feet from them. The Lady waved to him. "Do you know who this 'Shadow' is?" the Lady asked the unicorn. *No, but I do know he possesses great power.* "How?" *He was able to communicate with me instantly. Only you and our friends have ever been able to do that. With others, I'm the one who has to pass thoughts around.* "You do have a point. How much can we trust him?" *I think he's "safe."* "But *how* safe?" *"safe." He's giving me more directions. Shh, while I listen.* The unicorn stopped dead in her tracks as she came over a hill. The cab stopped right beside her and it's occupents all stared in terror. Before them stood a mansion that was one-half horror house and one- half candidate for Better Homes and Gardens (TM). "Two-Face's hideout," the Shadow said, but he refrained from laughing. ...to be continued... ________________________________ | Catwoman's Window Sill | |________________________________| |WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW| | \ * \ \ || \ \ * \ | | \ \* \|| \ * \ \ | |_______________||_______________| |_______________ _______________| | \ @@@@@@@ * || * A~A \ | | \ @@@@@ \ ||\ {'o'} \ | | * \|/ \ || \ { Y } * | |______(_)______||_____{#_#}_____| |________________________________| | http://catwoman.simplenet.com/ | |________________________________|
