I hope I'm doing this right, but if not, please forgive me. I'm an aspiring writer and hope to some day be published. (I've only sent in one story to three markets, and was rejected by all.) I live in the San Francisco Bay Area. I love to read, especially mysteries. Up until recently, the stories I wrote were from all genres, except mysteries. However, I never felt comfortable with them and decided to focus on mysteries. I have a novella that I started about a corrupt police commissioner. The protagonist is a waitress. Her boyfriend was a news reporter killed by the commissioner because he discovered some deep, dark secrets about him. The waitress wants to avenge his death. The story actually started out as a short story, but grew. Now I've given in and decided to just let it go where it wants. Who knows, maybe it'll turn into a novel and somebody will want to buy it!! I guess my biggest problem with writing is procrastinating. I always have a reason why I can't sit down to write right now. Of course, I'm sitting here writing to this list as if this is the most important thing I should be doing. Other important things about me: I'm married to a wonderful man who thinks I have a wild imagination and believes I'll be a successful writer. I have three kids, who really keep me quite busy (ages: 10 yrs., 2 yrs. and 3 mos.). They also believe I walk on water; but then, what kid thinks otherwise of their parents (at this tender age!)? I hold a Masters degree, but am not working outside the home right now. All the more reason I should be writing. Well, thanks for listening. I really enjoy this list and hope to contribute something worthwhile to it in the future.
