Hello writers, I've been reading this list for a couple of days now and have decided that it's exactly what I've been looking for. So why not introduce myself instead of sitting here behind my keyboard, lurking? My name is Caryn Law and I'm a 25 year old undergraduate student studying astrophysics with a Russian minor at the University of Wyoming. I've been writing for a while -- I just realized the other day that my first short story was a sci-fi thriller I wrote when I was 12. But these days I don't do much in the way of sci-fi, even though I'm a hard science major. Mostly, I enjoy writing short fiction. However, I am working in the background on a sci-fi novel length piece that I've been working on for about a year. Have no idea when I'll finish it. I write sporadically -- partly because the well of ideas occasionally runs dry, and partly because my non-writing life is so demanding these days, as I do research in my dept. as well as the regular work for college. Even though I wrote a lot when I was a kid, I didn't write quite like I did then for many years, except for a whole lot of poetry when I was a teenager, of which only a couple of poems I still really like (such is writing. :) ). I started writing again a couple of years ago and can't stop. I have three complete short pieces of fiction, one of which is currently at an editor's mercy, and I won't know until January if it's been accepted. How do you people go through this?! So to make a short story long, this is me, and so far I've enjoyed what I see on the list. I would love to post a piece of mine for criticism, as only a couple of people have read it telling me they loved it, which means nothing except that they really like me. :) Thanks, Caryn Law astarte@uwyo.edu
