Date: Thu, 2 Jan 1997 18:20:12 -0600 From: Carol Subject: FILL: BIO: Writer from the Heartland--Oklahoma--and a "banger of drums" Howdy to y'all! I am new at listservs, and so I may make a few mistakes in "List Etiquette" at first. I hope I am forgiven. My name is CarolSue Hair, and I am a writer of suspense fiction--short stories (my best credit so far is publication in Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine) and my first novel which I am currently writing. I am also a poet, my real love actually. The writing of the novel, OLDER WOMEN MAKE BEAUTIFUL VICTIMS, is not as daunting to me as the idea of finding an agent, trying to publish, and all of the other little pieces of business that go with the birth of a book. As I get farther into the process, I am hoping to find kind souls with much good advice who will help me out! I recently (Dec. 20, 1996) quit teaching to pursue writing as a full-time career. I am VERY interested in knowing about workshops and conferences that I might attend and want very much to meet other writers, both through this list and perhaps in person. I have one grown son and my very first grandbaby was born in October. There suddenly seem to be many "firsts" going on in my life, and I can tell you that I plan to make the last half far more interesting and exciting than was the first half! I want to travel, meet people, and most of all to become a successful author. I love being an Okie, born near Oklahoma City and resident of the same area for my whole life. I want to hear from writers from all over, but I would especially love to know of any in my vicinity who share the same interests in fiction and poetry that I do. My poetry and the intro to my novel are at my web site....I would welcome your visit there: http://cust.iamerica.net/cheeta/rosepage.html I love to laugh and to work at what I love, so I think this list may very well put me in contact with the kind of people I would like to meet. I don't know if any of you are Todd Rundgren fans, but he has a song that is fast becoming my anthem--I have to exercise discipline in order to get done what I need and want to do. The name of the song is "Bang the Drum" and the first line goes......"I don' wanna work--I just wanna bang on de drum all day!" Can any of you relate??? Looking forward to hearing from any of you who might or any who are interested in helping out a "late bloomer." Sincerely and with hopes of fun, too!
