I'm considered young by most at 17. I'm taking Applied Math and Physics at the university of Waterloo. My plan in life is to stay in school in long as possible, hopefully to never have to do _real_ work :), and write on the side, for myself, and maybe for others too. I've already failed at this -- as we speak I'm on a co-op term working for Agriculture Canada in Ottawa. Next weekend however, I'll be returning to campus for more studying (that would be in Waterloo, Ontario). I'm originally from a farm in a tiny town called Chapeau Quebec, which is 2 hours north-west of Ottawa. I've been "writing" since before I knew to spell, starting with picture stories. I don't write quite as much as I'd like -- university doesn't leave much time to spare. I'm a member of Mensa Canada, which is filled with interesting people to say the least. I've gone to a couple of their get-togethers, and regret not going to more. I have a homepage up (www.undergrad.math.uwaterloo.ca/~lrthomps) which has a short story of mine and poem I wrote in memory of a friend who committed suicide (though it really isn't _in memory_ of him). After reading this story my mother asked,"Where did you get the idea for this story?" and when I ansered, "in my head" she shook her head and said, "that's what I was afraid of." She finishing her english masters, and termed it post-modernist. I wrote it last fall, and haven't been very productive since. I welcome comments lrthomps@undergrad.math.uwaterloo.ca about either. I'm glad to have joined your list (I've been reading a few ongoing conversations since yesterday), and would love to contribute. Ciau! Lara P.S. Yes, I realise I'm spelling "ciau" in neither the italian form (ciao) nor the other form that's been suggested to me, cao. \\// (oo) --------------------------o0O-()-O0o----------------------------
