Subject: INTRO: Pat Garrett


        Hello, my name is Pat Garrett.  I'm 38 years old, have a B.S. in
Business Administration, and have a home-based court reporting business
(Alaska Court System and Federal Court System certified).  My husband and I
have been married almost -- not quite -- 19 years.  We have three children
ages 17, 16, and 13.  My oldest turns 18 this September and I'm seriously
considering giving a party -- not in his honor but ours. We're finally
liberated!!!  Whew, I wipe my brow, one down two to go.
        Anyway, back to the synopsis, years ago I promised my husband I'd
follow him to the ends of the earth and look where I landed... North Pole,
Alaska!  If you've ever visited this latitude you'd realize I fulfilled my
promise.   In the winter it's not uncommon to dip to a frigid 60 degrees
below zero.  At that temperature you can throw a steaming hot mug of brew
out the back door and watch it crystalize into a fine mist before it reaches
the ground.  And, yes, Virginia, Santa Claus really does have a house up
here.  It's a virtual tourist trap every summer.
        I'm not familiar with the list server so if I've made a social
plunder on my first attempt at being mannerly, please forgive me.  My
writing goal is to obtain the insight and understanding of the mechanism of
building intricate plots and believable characters; and once that is
accomplished knowing where to send it for critique and, finally, where to
send the end product for publishing.  If your knowlegeable and have a
willingness to teach me these things, I will be your willing student.
