Subject: INTRO: Steve Kelen Good day I have just joined "Writers" and had better introduce myself, I guess. I recently put a submission into the ether, a poem "Jack Blizzard". Following is a brief bio that is on the MIT homepage at:http://web.mit.edu/humanistic/www/kelen.htm (I did a reading there in March). My e-mail address is SKelen@dca.gov.au. Snail mail address: 25 Longstaff Street LYNEHAM ACT 2602 AUSTRALIA. Anyone wishing to obtain a copy of my latest book, "Trans-Sumatran Highway & other poems" can order it direct from me or from Polonius Press whose address is 35 Wybalena Grove COOK ACT 2614. It's had some good reviews and is selling solidly (the cover is great - a portrait of a post-coital Sumatran tigress). I have recently completed a stint as Visiting Professor of Poetry at the University of South Dakota which was a great experience. Anyhow, here's the MIT blurb: Steve Kelen was born in the year television and the Olympics came to Australia. He studied Philosophy and Literature at the University of Sydney and remains an ardent student of life. He lives in Canberra and enjoys travelling. Kelen's poems have been published in Australian journals and newspapers, broadcast on the Australian Broadcasting Corporation's Radio National and have appeared in journals in the UK, US, Canada, Japan and in cyberspace. His latest book, Trans-Sumatran Highway & other poems was published in 1995. His other books are Atomic Ballet (1991) and Dingo Sky (1993). In 1995 Kelen received a Writer's Project Grant from the Literature Board of the Australia Council and in 1996 is Visiting Writer at the University of South Dakota. Examples of Steve Kelen's work are Bliss, House of Rats, and Fishing Village. Stephen Kelen read at MIT on March 7, at 7:30 pm in Bartos Theatre in the Wiesner Building, 20 Ames Street, Cambridge.
