We haven't spoken (is that the right word for this?) before - you may have seen some of my messages to the list in amongst all of the other hundreds? I have been a member since the end of August and enjoying every minute of it! Sometimes I spend all night going thru WRITERS mail instead of actually writing! But I have gained so much help from so many kind people on the list that the odd few hours here and there are worth it :-) Anyway - thought I'd have a go at a Bio - so here it is : TONY FENTON I am 36 years old, live in Dorridge which is about 10 miles to the South East of Birmingham, England and a stone's throw from Stratford for all of you Shakespeare fans. I am married with 3 children (a 2 yr boy, 8 yr girl and 15 yr boy) a cat, two hamsters and a new puppy : Tigi (check out my homepage for photos!) who is a PBGV (Petit Basset Griffon Vendeen - a French hunting hound with rough coat and short-ish legs). I work in IT, having done so since graduating with a Computer Studies degree. My first couple of jobs were in London, after which I moved up to Birmingham (my home town). I have always enjoyed writing and have had many attempts at writing short stories and even the odd novel. My 'literary life' started with Steinbeck's "Grapes of Wrath" and continued with Hemingway, Faulkner, etc., etc. reading as much as I could. That was in the days when I had time to read. Now I have to read in stolen moments. My writing competes with learning to play the piano - at the moment the piano is losing out a bit. If only I didn't have to work . . . :-) My current project is a novel, Faultlines, which is about half done and the first chapter is now in its third rewrite. But, I'll get there! In between rewrites of Faultlines I have had a go at some short stories, trying to always keep some out there with various magazines. So far . . . nothing, still waiting for someone to bite! I have had one article published - about our cat, Maxi, in Cat World magazine. Now, if I could just get some of my fiction published . . . Whilst not writing prose I have turned my hand to poetry, including a somewhat topical poem about goats and telephone cables (I'm not sure whether Woofie thought it amusing though!). [END of BIO] Hope this is ok Mike? Tony Fenton.
