Subject: BIO: Jay Wigley (New Writer from Mississippi) Date: Mon, 28 Oct 1996 09:08:33 -0500 My name is Jay Wigley and I am an aspiring writer from the Mississippi Delta. I am completely unpublished and a beginner in fiction writing. I am "sort of" published in the non-fiction category, having had my undergrad thesis published by the Naval Academy. It was an exploration of the problems associated with integration in 1950's Maryland, titled "Guns, Laid and Ready." The title comes from _Intruder in the Dust,_ a lesser Faulkner novel. (Of course, "lesser" and Faulkner still mean wonderful in my book.) I don't read as much as I'd like to, but lately I've been reading a fascinating and well-crafted biography of Moe Berg, a professional baseball player and World War II spy for the OSS, titled _The Catcher was a Spy._ I've read all of the Sherlock Holmes stories and novels fairly recently, and enjoy almost everything Faulkner ever wrote. My favorite book of all is one of Faulkner's best, _Absalom, Absalom!_. I've only written a short story lately, and if I can find an electronic copy of it, I might just have enough nerve to submit it here. I have lurked for a day or two and must say that I am impressed with the friendly and constructive atmosphere on WRITERS. With wishes of pleasant prospects for all, Jay
