After 12 years of being single, getting used to a husband and a cat is an ongoing process not without its moments. I'm 54, have five grown children and eight grandchildren. After finishing college at 42 or 43, I worked as a reporter at a couple of small town newspapers before returning to college to work on a master's degree (both in communications). I still haven't finished the thesis, but working on it. I have worked as a newspaper reporter most of the time since college, including the time I was going to school. Currently, I work for the Branson, Missouri, newspaper at an outlying office, covering a whole county. I have read with interest some of the comments along the "journalistic eithics" thread. Please don't take offense, but it would be interesting to see how some of our critics would handle being a reporter for a few days; it would give them a whole new perception of the job. Sometimes people have a "kill the messenger" attitude about folks just trying to do their job, and most of us attempt to do it as ethically, truthfully and fairly as we possibly can. Enough of that; this is supposed to be a bio. I'm not sure what else to include here. I've lived in Missouri most of my life, with some time spent in California, Arkansas and Colorado. I'm the oldest of 7 children andI am planning a book of sorts about some of our growing up experiences, being urged by my brother to do it. Maybe I'll try out some of the vignettes on this group to see what you think. Thanks for all the good material I've found here. I'm really glad I found Writers.
