Hurray for Jim! :) Yes, those were the categories from last year's madcap contest. Thanks! If you have suggestions for additional categories, please send them to me *privately* at mji@srmoo.engl.sru.edu so as not to clog the list unnecessarily. I will accept additions to the list through Friday, then compile the revised listing of categories over the weekend. Catherine wrote me with a delightful idea for this year's event. Instead of the past procedure of mainly nomination voting and minimal campaigning, we will have a week's worth of out-and-out, get-down-and-wild campaigning. Hey, we've been watching the candidates on both the local and national scenes for months, now it's our turn. We can do this! The campaign will appear under the INT category... so if you know of WRITERS who don't subscribe to INT and would like to be involved in the campaigning fun, let them know what mischief is afoot. In order to practice our writing skills, all candidates for "office" are invited to climb up on Ye Olde Campaign Stump and give us your best show! All categories are open to any WRITER, past victims-- er, I mean-- *members* included. ;) Anything goes. Balloons, kazoo bands, confetti, lies, even nude campaigning and outrageous promises. The usual. Throughout the week of WRITERS election glitz or after if you wish, your votes should be sent to moi, Emjay. Deadline for voting is Monday, November 18, at midnight EST. Send your votes *privately* to avoid embarrassment to yourself and your nominees. Any WRITER member, past or present, is eligible for any category, so put on your thinking caps and let me hear from you. (CK, are you still interested in assisting with the tabulation?) You can receive a list of last year's winners by request, or if I get enough requests, I will post the results to the forum... but only if enough folks ask. It's a beeeeeeeeeeeg file. Remember, send your suggestions for additional categories to me via private mail so I can add them to the list. Thankee. Watch for the campaign kick-off on Monday, November 11 under INT. No voting until *after* the initial kick-off posting, ok, so you don't miss any of the categories!
