Date: Fri, 17 Oct 1997 16:52:00 EDT From: theoretink Subject: FILLER: Sorry, Eudora Filters, Take #2 [just in case someone tried the stuff I sent to the list a while ago and got frustrated...I was wrong in practice, although correct in theory. sigh!] 1. There is a "known bug" in many versions of Eudora (fixed in later versions, so I'm told) related to To: Contains: Name1 AND To: Contains: Name2 (the only reason I know this is that I confirmed the bug on my system, reported the bug and was shown that a later version than the one I have no longer displays this). The recommendation here was that I upgrade... 2. The workaround: do To: Contains: name1, name2. Order is not important. (and yes, I've confirmed this works with my version of Eudora 2.2 under win95--your mileage may vary) 3. Tests show that the To: ... AND Cc: filters do the job on messages with that kind of addressing. So, a complete set of filters to catch double-addressed messages: a. To: Contains: person AND Cc: contains: writers@mitvma.mit.edu b. To: Contains: writers@mitvma.mit.edu AND Cc: contains: person c. To: Contains: person, writers@mitvma.mit.edu d. Cc: Contains: person, writers@mitvma.mit.edu d is probably optional, since it means someone sent it To: another name, then tagged on the individual and writers as a Cc. Could happen, but seems unlikely. tink
