Date: Wed, 29 Apr 1998 12:23:26 EDT From: Just me and my altered ego Subject: [WRITERS] FILLER: The Ending is... (2) [the whole story!] [some time past, I posted the last paragraph and asked people to write their own beginnings. just in case anyone was worried about what the real story was...] according to Reader's Digest: Responding in my patrol car to an accident, I found two cars in the street. One of the drivers smelled of alcohol, so I began a sobriety test by having him walk heel-to-toe on the center line. Suddenly another car sped around the corner and rear-ended one of the stopped vehicles. Fortunately, no one was injured, but in the confusion my drunk-driving suspect disappeared. Then another police car arrived with my suspect in the back seat. "We found this guy five blocks away," said one of the officers, "walking down the middle of the street, traffic swerving around him. He said you told him to do this." The officer laughed. "He really expected us to believe that story!" (from Reader's Digest, May 1993, p. 18) tink
