And she could swear she heard >a cat >yowl. > Judy eased out from under the seat before she got the same dry heaves the deputy had endured. Her instincts were right on. Too bad about the alergy. There was no percentage in becoming roadkill for nothing if this idiot couldn't control the car. She sat and stared at the deputy hoping she could catch her eye. It might help if she knew she had an ally, but then again, these humans always underestimated her. It was both a blessing and a curse. Finally, feeling eyes on her, the woman looked down by her feet and saw Judy sitting there and her eyes grew large. Oh, oh, I would draw one with the phobia, thought Judy, as she made friendly vibes in her throat, and rubbed her head on the deputy's leg. Slowly, Colleen reached her hand down to touch the creature. Judy put on her best show of friendliness, rearing up and leaning into it, her forehead nuzzling the offered hand. As she saw the deputy begin to relax, she settled down by her feet to await an opportunity. This was not long in arriving, as the car came to a stop in a secluded driveway. "Damn, maybe that asshole I stuffed into the trunk had a cat. You'll help me dispose of the corpse now, won't you sweetheart?" Alex leared into the rearview mirror, as he opened his door and got out. "I was never your sweetheart, and I'm not touching any corpses," replied Colleen with more than a little indignation. "I'll give you an alternative item to touch, if you insist," suggestively jerking on his belt. "Don't make me puke again, Alex." "Then get out, and let's get to work," he said, as he opened her door. The moment Judy had been waiting for had arrived. As he leaned in to grab the deputy's arm, the cat leaped streight into his face, all claws extended. He screamed and tried to pull the furry ball of fury off his head, which only drove her claws deeper into his flesh. Colleen stepped calmly out of the car, drawing her gun as she did, and leaned against the car to watch the ensueing rodeo. It was a spectacle to see; this small bombshell of a cat was sticking to Alex like glue as he bucked and screamed, "Get it off me, get it off me!" Finally, he smashed his head into a tree, dislodging his antagonist, and nearly knocking himself out. Judy raced up the tree, out of reach, while Alex shouted obsceneties, and swore he was going to kill that cat if it was the last thing he did. "No, I think you are going to take your shirt off, so I can tie you up with it, Alex." The calm deputies voice stopped Alex mid-word, and he turned his bloodied face to stare into her drawn weapon.
