The calm deputies voice stopped Alex mid-word, and he >turned his bloodied face to stare into her drawn weapon. *********** > At first, Alex looked confused, but that didn't last long. He smiled, his eyes lit from behind with a strange light. Colleen didn't like the way he was looking at her. "I'll take my shirt off, Bitch." Colleen raised an eyebrow. "Such language. It's okay. You don't even have to take your shirt off, just hand me the keys." Alex reached into his pocket. Like a flash, he was heading towards her with a knife. Colleen didn't think. The gun went off four times, and Alex fell to his knees. He looked at her, then his eyes closed forever. Colleen felt a little shaky. she put her gun behind her shirt in her waistband, then bent down to the cat. "Thanks, Kitty." "Judy," the cat purred. A talking cat. A dead psychopath. All in a day's work. "Okay, Judy, then. Let's go. I'll call the coroner from town." Judy looked at the woman. She was holding up surprisingly well. Not at all like a feline phobic would react to a talking cat. "Are you okay?" "Why wouldn't I be? I'm not too surprised. After all, last week, we had three alien abductions and one alien pregnancy. A talking cat is all part of the trade. You get de-sensitized after awhile." Colleen climbed into the car, which was growing a little rank in the warm afternoon air. She held the door open for the cat and Judy jumped in. Colleen drove back to town. *********** Okay, so it isn't interesting--but I decided I didn't like the Alex angle.
