Date: Fri, 8 Sep 2000 09:15:55 -0600 From: Robyn Herrington Organization: University of Calgary Subject: [WRITERS] WOW: It was a dark and stormy Halloween contest... It's time for the annual Writer's Halloween Contest! This year, things are going to be *just a wee bit different*. Usually, stories are submitted to me, and I send 'em to the list with the names stripped off... and stories have to be in by October 15th. We would then vote on the stories and, on Halloween, I'd post the top five. But, this Halloween I'm actually going to be on a rather large ship, somewhere off the coast of Italy. So this year I'm massaging the rules a bit to suite my absence. My contest. My rules. :) (OFFICIAL HALLOWEEN NOTICE BEGINS) October 2000 marks the 8th Writer's Halloween short story contest. Here be the rules: 1. This contest is for short stories, maximum 2,500 words. It's a Halloween contest. I want spooky, dark, horror, Halloweenie stories. Go on. Scare us all. 2. Maximum of 2 entries per person. 3. Send entries to *ME* -- rmherrin@ucalgary.ca. I will strip the names and post 'em back to the list with SUB: CONTEST as the subject line. Any entry posted directly to the list will *not* be included in the contest. *Do not send attachments. Include story in the body of your email. Use _underscores_ for italics. 4. Entries must be recieved between October 1st and October 17th. I'll post the last stories on October 18th, before I head off. 5. Voting will take place on November 8th and 9th. I will tally the votes on November 10th, and post the top five vote getters. The top 5 winners recieve a hand made glass paperweight (which I've already made, so there'll be no time lag this year), plus a nice certificate, suitable for framing. :) Questions? Contact me. Let the writing begin!
