"Here's your beans, Mamma!" Daisy hollered out to the empty room and shut the door behind her with a dusty bare foot. A plump woman wearing a cotton house dress came rushin into the kitchen from the back porch. Her cherub cheeks were glistening with moisture and her lips were stretched back in a huge grin. "Daisy Mae! It's here! Pa just brung it home and hooked it up on the back porch." Daisy let out a squeal, not unlike a hog and ran out onto the porch where she beheld the most modern thing Hillbilly Haven has ever seen. "Momma, it's beautiful." She spoke in breathless wonder. "I'm right proud that your Pa made sure we wuz the first folks in town to get one of them wringer washers."
