For me, the earliest is a memory of my father raging about some jackass in Washington named Joe McCarthy; I suspect this has a lot to do with my negative reaction to many conservatives, even when I agree with them. My most powerful (in some ways) is of shaking Bobby Kennedy's hand 10 days before he was assassinated. Both of these have some important emotions tied to them (then and now). The conversation got me to thinking about those emotions, and how had they sometimes are to define. That made me think it might be a good writing exercise. So you assignment, should you choose to accept it, is to identify your earliest and most powerful political memories (they may be the same thing) and to discover and describe the emotions attached to them.
