Tomorrow's Seed

Settled in the bed of life
the seeds of tomorrow lie
full of hope and yesterday
poised to meet the sky

We wait with anticipation
to see which seeds will grow
they were planted in the dark
and only time will show

The sneaky lines of binder weed
that strangle all the rest
or delightful blossoms of daffodil
to show us at our best

This winter of sorrow
must some day be ended
with spring rain to raise the new
and all the broken mended
