Mary Margaret Solomon Jones Had learned a big secret that day; Being six, she wanted to test it, And she thought she'd thought up a way. Mary Margaret Solomon Jones Was going to make a wish. So when, by the moon, she spotted her star What she said was this: I spy in the sky The very first star of the day I would like to make a request A little one if it's okay. Then Mary Margaret Solomon Jones Closed her eyes very tight And crossing her fingers and curling her toes Sent a wish right out to the night. Mary Margaret Solomon Jones Smiled when she was done Closed her window, crawled into bed And fell asleep thinking thoughts that were fun. Mary Margaret Solomon Jones Dreamed of the secret she knew: The very first wish on the very first star Almost always, it's said, can come true. When she awoke, she rushed right outside To see if her star had come through. What do you think she found in her yard? An elephant wearing pink shoes. So Mary Margaret Solomon Jones Now believes in wishes. The next time she spies the very first star She plans to ask for fishes. Or maybe a giraffe.
