Date: Sun, 2 Feb 1997 00:38:10 -0500 From: BARBARA HARRIS Subject: ALL: Voting and Final Entries for Valentine's Contest -- [ From: Barbara Harris * EMC.Ver #2.5.1 ] -- IF YOU REPLY TO THIS ON THE LIST, PLEASE DELETE "ALL" FROM THE SUBJECT LINE... THANK YOU!!! If you are missing any entries, Tink has made them available at: < http://web.mit.edu/mbarker/www/val97/val.html > If you do not have web access and are only missing a few, you may contact either me or Michelle to forward copies. Please send votes to BOTH Barbara Harris and Michelle Hakala We will both be tallying them in order to assure an accurate count. Please vote for only one person in Essays and One Act Plays, since there are only two entries in each category. In those categories, the person with the most votes wins. Please vote for places *one through five* in Poetry and Short Stories, with first place being your favorite, and so on. Five points will be awarded for each first place vote, four for second, and so on. Points will be totalled to determine the winner. In case of a tie, the person with the highest number of first place votes will be the winner. If that doesn't break the tie, then we'll run a tie-breaker vote. There is no rule against voting for yourself. However, please be objective and adult in placing your votes... vote for what you truly consider the best work! All votes must be in to both me and Michelle by midnight, est, on February 13. We want to announce the winners on Valentine's Day, so please be sure to get the votes in on time! The festivities will be held at the Haven for Hopeful Romantics, and everyone is welcome to join in. They will be posted under both INT: and FIL:, so if you want to attend, please turn on one of those options if you are not already getting it. And... ta dah!... here is the final list of entries... get out your red pencils and vote! Contestants names will be announced on Valentine's Day as well, and I'm sure they will all welcome any critiques anyone wishes to send at that time.
