We were, yet I knew you wouldn't stay the longest day. You were the genesis and the terminus, never liking the middle of anything, lest the "are" of us, or the repetitive patterns of here and now; only kaleidoscopes of tomorrows, forever changing shape, not to be remembered or depended upon. So I left, as you stopped to change the reels of our lives. Now you sit holding our faded images at arm's length squinting, wishing, --for the middle--
