Please, read carefully ... it may sound similar ...
but the song didn't remain the same.

The list that brought you more FILLER than Stove Top
Stuffing is proud to announce with little or no
fanfare and less than a New York city ticker tape
parade:

    *** The 1998 WRITERs' Valentine's Day Contest! ***

WHO: All members of WRITERS are eligible to enter the
contest and are encouraged to do so.

WHAT: The topic for the contest is romance and love
and all things related ... the gain and/or loss of it
... boy meets girl, girl dumps boy for pet iguana ...
chatroom love affairs, blind dates gone wrong/right
... it's up to you. And whether you succeed will be
up to the list to decide.

WHAT: All submissions are limited to 5000 words or
less.

WHAT: Three categories will be judged for the contest:

  1. Short Stories

  2. Poetry (including Limericks)

  3. Personal Essays

WHAT: One entry per category, please.

WHERE: Once you've completed your baby send it to:

        Michelle <winebird@inreach.com>

        and

        Anthony <jackechs@erols.com>

WHERE: Do not send your entry to the list, it will be
disqualified and not allowed in the contest. Once an
entry is received it will be categorized and stripped
of its authorial identity before being posted to the
list as a SUBMISSION (or SUB) and subsequently to a
web site to be named later ... anyone desiring to
critique the work should save it until after the
contest, please.

WHAT: Be sure to double check your baby before
sending, while we will try to accommodate corrections
(i.e. typos, not major changes ... to the archive
copy only, it will not be reposted to the list as a
whole), please, realize that this is a "volunteer"
effort and that new entries will receive the highest
priority in processing.

WHAT: In the subject line, identify your entry (and
remember it's not going to the list, it's going to
Michelle and Anthony) as appropriate:

  SUB: VDC: your title (short story)

  SUB: VDC: your title (poem)

  SUB: VDC: your title (essay)

WHAT: Entries should not have been previously
submitted to WRITERS and any that are found to be
will be disqualified.

WHEN: Submissions are currently open until midnight,
January 31st.

WHEN: The Voting Polls will open promptly February
1st with the posting of voting instructions for all
and close just as promptly on February 13th.

WHAT: Contest winners will be announced at a site and
time to be announced later.
