My interests focus on the mechanics and physics of nano/bio-materials, by utilzing a bottom-up computer simulation approach. I have been working on mechanical and electronic properties of carbon based nanomaterials such as carbon nanotubes and graphene. My current project focuses on on bio-inspired thermal materials, which has broad impacts on both engineering applications (e.g. thermal management, thermo-electrics) and basic physics (e.g. energy transfer process in protein, DNA and hybrid nano-inorganic materials). My work is aimed to design synthetic hierarchical structures for engineering use, with use of nano-materials that feature outstanding structural, electronic and most importantly, thermal properties.
