Melody Swartz, former post-doc in the MechanoBiology Lab and now Professor of Bioengineering at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne, Switzerland, was awrded the MacArthur Award for her work on understanding the physiology and biology of interstitial and lymphatic transport, and its application on cancer metastasis or immune cell trafficking.
