MIT Medical has been serving members of the MIT community
and their families for more than 100 years. Today, we offer
a single, centralized source for all your health care needs,
including comprehensive health insurance, care and treatment
at our own medical centers, and an extensive roster of health
promotion programs.
Students, affiliates, staff, faculty, and post-doctoral fellows
all have convenient, on-campus access to a broad range of
clinical services and medical specialties, each delivered
by highly qualified physicians, nurse practitioners, psychologists,
physician assistants, social workers, and other health care
professionals.
Our staff's involvement in campus life makes it possible
to offer highly personalized health care, continually informed
by issues unique to the MIT community. And through our affiliations
with Boston's leading hospitals, clinicians are able to refer
patients with more serious conditions to the best specialists
available.
Over the years, we've found that flexible health plans, personal
care, and our own expert medical staff are essential to keeping
the people around us in good health. It's a vision of all-inclusive
health care made possible by our long history of designing services
exclusively for the MIT community.
JCAHO Accreditation
Throughout the years, MIT Medical has received accreditation
by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations
(JCAHO) by demonstrating compliance with the Joint Commission's
national standards for healthcare quality and safety. MIT
Medical received its most recent accreditation—the Joint
Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organization's
Gold Seal of Approval—in October 2005. This accreditation
is for a three-year period ending in October 2008.
Founded in 1951, the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare
Organizations' goal is to continuously improve the safety and quality
of care provided to the public through the provision of healthcare accreditation.
An independent, not-for-profit organization, the Joint Commission is
the nation's oldest and largest standards-setting and accrediting body
in healthcare. Beginning in 2006, site visits by the Joint Commission
are unannounced.
MIT Medical continually works to enhance quality and safety for our patients. MIT Medical patients may contact the Joint Commission's Office of Quality Monitoring to report any concerns or register complaints about a Joint Commission-accredited health care organization by either calling 1-800-994-6610 or emailing complaint@jcaho.org.
