Find out what's new for 2008 in the MIT Employee Health Plans.

There are many reasons why one of the MIT Health Plans may be the best insurance you can choose for yourself and your family. The on-campus convenience of our medical services, the quality of our physicians, affiliation with top hospitals in the Boston area, and reasonable referral requirements are only a few of our health plan advantages.

If you're a benefits-eligible employee of MIT Cambridge and Lincoln Laboratory, the Whitehead Institute, or Draper Laboratory, we invite you to learn more about our available coverage:

  • Traditional MIT Health Plan: provides free access to a full range of preventive and diagnostic services. Nearly all services are covered in full when directed by your MIT physician, including routine physical exams, treatment of illness and injuries, round-the-clock emergency care, and inpatient care in our on-campus hospital or an affiliated hospital. The plan is administered in partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts.

  • Flexible MIT Health Plan (not available to Draper employees): allows you the freedom to choose where you receive your health care. When your medical care is supervised by your MIT physician, nearly all services are covered in full, just like the Traditional Plan.

    Beyond that, the Flexible Plan provides access to almost any hospital or physician outside the MIT network of affiliated providers without a referral (subject to deductible and co-insurance requirements). The plan is administered in partnership with Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts.
