The United States Information Agency (USIA), which administers the
Exchange Visitor Program, requires that visitors with J-1 visa
status and their dependents with J-2 visa status have health
insurance that meets United States government standards.
Since MIT's health insurance meets these standards, we encourage
you and your family to enroll in the MIT Affiliate Medical Plan and
MIT Affiliate Extended Insurance Plan.
MIT's International Scholars Office requires all J-1 affiliates
to sign a Statement
of Compliance form to verify that you understand and will comply
with the United States Information Agency's Exchange Visitor
Program
requirements for health insurance.
To understand all the health insurance options available to MIT
exchange visitors, please visit the international
scholars web site.
For more information, please contact MIT's International Scholars
Office at 617-253-2851 or by email at iso@mit.edu.
