For benefits-eligible employees of MIT Cambridge and Lincoln Laboratory, the Whitehead Institute, and Draper Laboratory

The Traditional MIT Health Plan offers on-campus access to a broad range of MIT Medical services and specialties delivered by our staff of more than 100 physicians, psychologists, nurses, social workers, and other health care professionals. Several services are also offered at Lincoln Laboratory in Lexington.

As a member of the Traditional MIT Health Plan, you'll enjoy the highest quality preventive, diagnostic, and therapeutic health care from people who work within your own professional community.

Before choosing a new health plan, we encourage you to compare other plans to the convenience and coverage of our Traditional MIT Health Plan. If you receive treatment at MIT Medical, or by referral at one of our affiliate hospitals, you'll be covered for:

  • Office visits
  • Urgent care 24 hours a day
  • Routine physical exams
  • Routine eye exams
  • A range of women's health care services, including gynecological exams, mammograms, interrupted pregnancies, and maternity coverage
  • Outpatient psychotherapy evaluation and some treatment at MIT Medical
  • Inpatient care in cooperating hospitals or substance abuse treatment facilities
  • Special mental health and substance abuse benefits through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts (BCBSMA) Managed Care Behavioral Health Network
  • Acupuncture for pain management and serious medical conditions at Massachusetts General Hospital or New England School of Acupuncture
  • Vision, hearing, cholesterol, and other screening tests
  • Diagnostic, lab, and X-ray services
  • Immunizations (with co-payments in some cases)
  • Prescription drugs dispensed at MIT Medical, subject to co-payments (or through a participating Express Scripts pharmacy, subject to a higher co-pay)
  • Emergency care
  • Out-of-area urgent and emergency care services
