The group is sponsored by MIT Medical and the Provost, and is under the management of Jessica Barton, LICSW, Director, and Jennifer Recklet, Program Coordinator.
Adjusting to a new environment can be challenging. spouses&partners@mit has a well-educated staff that offers individual and confidential consultation to any member. They are available to talk about any subject, from where to buy furniture and finding English classes, to raising your children or concerns about your marriage. No question is too big or too small. Jessica Barton, Director
Working with spouses&partners@mit is a natural progression in Jessica Barton's career as a clinical social worker. In 1991, Jessica lived in Germany for a year, and she draws on her own experience of living in a different place with no language skills in her work with spouses&partners@mit. In 1997, Jessica joined the clinical staff in the Mental Health Service at MIT Medical, and she enjoys her work with the community. Jessica has lived in the Boston area for over 20 years, and is always happy to talk with members about local events, politics, dining out, and arts and culture. As the Director of spouses&partners@mit, Jessica oversees the organizational and financial aspects of the group, and she keeps in close contact with the members. Educating MIT administrators about the specific challenges and issues facing the membership is a critical part of her work.
Jennifer Recklet, Program Coordinator
After graduating from Smith College in 1993 with a degree in psychology, Jennifer Recklet spent a year in Milan, Italy working as an au pair. When she returned to Boston, she began working as a temporary secretary at MIT, and she's been at the Institute ever since. In 1997, she began working for spouses&partners@mit and has truly enjoyed meeting and working with people from all over the world. She loves cooking and eating, art and music, practicing yoga, and spending time with her husband and cats. As the program coordinator, Jennifer is the primary contact person for members. She manages the administrative aspects of spouses&partners@mit, overseeing daily operations and providing direct support to the members by answering individual questions and helping them plan activities and projects.
