English Conversation Classes for Women

Registration Day: Tuesday, September 9
9 AM in the Student Center (W20), Room 491
First offered to international women who arrived here at MIT with their families in 1963, the League’s English Conversation Classes continue to make an impact on visiting women. Over 3,200 women from 71 countries have attended these classes to learn or improve their English. While studying, they learned about American life and about the cultures of their classmates.

Classes meet Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 9:15 am to 11 am and are offered at beginning, intermediate, and advanced levels at a cost of $80 per semester, which includes the cost of books and weekly social hour. Babysitting is available during class time at $150 per child. Childcare spaces are limited and are offered on a first come-first served basis. On registration day, students meet with teachers to determine their class levels. Classes begin on Thursday, September 11, when all students again meet in the Student Center, Room 491, at 9:15 am for class assignments. For more information, please email wleague@mit.edu or call Jan Kirtley at 617-277-2628.
Visit the Women's League website to learn more about their activities.

Are you a woman who is not Jewish who is raising Jewish children? You are not alone!

Mothers Circle- a program for women like you - is coming to Cambridge, MA!

The program provides an introduction to Jewish parenting, practices, beliefs, values and the "how-to's" of Jewish family living. More than just a class, group members explore their responses and experiences with a non-judgmental group of peers who share their unique challenges and perspectives. The group will meet for 16 sessions over about 8 months.

Throughout the year there will be events that will include partners, family and friends. Participants will have access to a national listserv for Mothers Circle participants in the 25 groups throughout the country.
