I would like to welcome you to MIT Medical, the complete source
of health care for everyone at MIT. We invite all of you to take
advantage of our broad range of clinical services, comprehensive
health insurance, and extensive roster of health promotion
programs.
Students, affiliates, staff, faculty, and post-doctoral fellows
all have convenient, on-campus access to a broad range of clinical
services and medical specialties, each delivered by highly
qualified clinicians and health care professionals.
Our staff's involvement in campus life makes it possible to offer
personalized health care, continually informed by issues unique to
the MIT community. And through our affiliations with Boston's
leading hospitals, we can refer patients with more serious conditions
to the best specialists available.
We are proud of MIT's diversity and strive to meet the health
care requirements of the entire MIT community. If you are one of the
thousands of students, faculty, staff, and visiting scholars from
around the world, please take a moment to learn about several
international support programs designed with your needs in mind:
Language Line - arranges for foreign language
or sign language interpreters at our Cambridge and Lexington
medical centers. Some of our physicians and nurse practitioners
speak other languages, and all have access to the Language
Line telephone translation service. If either you or a friend
needs language support, please tell us when you make an
appointment.
Language
and Conversation Exchange (LCE) finds conversation
partners for people interested in practicing another language
with a native speaker. Language partners arrange the time,
place, and frequency of meetings, typically once a week
for an hour.
Spouses
& Partners helps the wives, husbands,
and partners of MIT students and staff find the friends,
language support, health resources, and other guidance they
need to settle into life in the Boston area.
Health Coverage for International Students
The MIT Student Medical Plan is free to international students
as part of your tuition. In addition, the MIT Student Extended
Insurance Plan provides excellent hospital coverage that
meets Massachusetts standards. To learn more about your
coverage options and requirements, please visit our
International Students
information page.
Health Coverage for International Scholars
The United States Department of State requires that visitors
with J-1 visa status and their dependents with J-2 visa
status have health insurance that meets United States government
standards. To learn more about your coverage options and
requirements, please visit our
International Scholars information
page.
We are pleased to be able to offer you the right care and
coverage - right here at MIT. We look forward to helping you
as you participate in the MIT community
