Thank you for expressing interest in the MedLINKS program!

If you've made it this far, hopefully you've already read what Medlinks are about. If not, check out our About Us section before applying.

What to expect during training
Medlinks training involves attending six 3 hour training courses on such topics as Relationships, Sexual Identity, Nutrition, Depression, Stress, and more. During training, you will learn about the major issues affecting your peers and how to help peers identify and deal with these issues. The Training courses will be held on Fridays from 4:00pm to 7:00pm from September 28th to November 9th. To apply to be a Medlink, you must be able to attend ALL training sessions. (We know that this time slot may overlap with a class or an extracurricular activity; however, we have found this is the best time for training. If you have a reoccuring conflict, we encourage you to apply again for the Fall 2008 class.) As part of Medlinks training, you will also take a course to become certified in First Aid and CPR on one of several Saturday or Sunday morning options. If you are already First Aid/CPR certified, this requirement is waived. As you can see, the training requirements are quite extensive! After training, you will be more than prepared to take on the next step.

What to expect after training
Medlinks is one of the most recognized student groups on campus, and we work very hard to keep it that way! Our primary focus is on peer-to-peer care in the dorms; therefore, upon graduation from Medlinks, you will receive a kit filled with Over-the-counter (OTC) medications like Tylenol, Sudafed, and more to help treat common ailments in your living group. We also have monthly Community Health outreach events such as our annual Flu Clinic in the fall, healthy Finals Breakfast at the end of each term, and our annual Dating Auction fundraiser in February. You will be expected to participate in these or one of our many other events as part of your commitment to Medlinks. And hopefully, you'll be having a lot of fun in the process!

So what are you waiting for?!
Apply to be a Medlink right now!! If you have any questions, feel free to contact the Exec Board at medlinks-exec@mit.edu. We'll be happy to answer any questions you may have.

(ATTENTION FRESHMEN: Please do not fill out an application until you know your final rooming assignments. Thank you!)
