The details of my life are quite inconsequential. — Dr. Evil
Hi, I'm Mike. Google knows me as "Mike Rolish", "Michael Rolish", or "Michael E. Rolish", but I'm not to be confused with my father, also named Michael.
As of November 2009, I'm taking some time off to figure out who I am and where I'm going. I'll let you know how that goes.
Most recently, for two years I was a software developer at the hedge fund HBK in the New York City office. Before that, I spent two years at Tower Research Capital, also a hedge fund in the city.
I spent five years at MIT, where I earned bachelor's and master's degrees in computer science in 2005. A long time ago, I grew up in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, a nice enough town just outside of Philadelphia, where I attended Cherry Hill Public Schools.
Here's a resume. If I ever have any accomplishments, I'll list them here. As for my future plans, I still entertain the notion of getting a PhD in computer science, but in the meantime I'll take interesting work where I can get it.
My life is largely defined by a number of burning questions. I've also learned a few things along the way.
As far as philosophy, politics, and economics, I consider myself a student of Ludwig von Mises, Ayn Rand, and other proponents of reason and liberty. You can call me a libertarian or classical liberal.
I have a LiveJournal, for now.
If you want to gift me, go to my Amazon wish list.
In any case, best of luck to you in your travels.
