Sketch of the MHL water tunnel: This tunnel spans two floors in the corner of building 3 at MIT. The square test section is 0.5 meters square and 1.2 meters long. The flow follows a clockwise path and the test section windows are clear for enhanced visualization.

Photograph of the waving plate apparatus mounted in the tunnel test section. In the forground at right, the LDV and PIV X-, Y-, Z-traverse is visible.

The test section can be replaced with a modular water jet testing apparatus. This specially designed equipment has tested many different water jet configurations for industry sponsors.
