Welcome to the Micro Power and Nanoengineering Group

The Micro Power & Nanoengineering group is a part of the Mechanical Engineering Department at MIT, under the direction of Professor Carol Livermore.

Our research focuses on two main areas. The first major area is power microelectromechanical systems (power MEMS). Power MEMS are MEMS devices that manipulate macroscopically-significant amounts of power in a small package. Examples include MEMS-based portable power sources and MEMS components for efficient lasers. The second major area is self assembly of micro and nanoscale systems. We are particularly interested in the creation, application, and quantitative analysis of technologies for selective micro and nanoscale self assembly.
