FSILG Policies

Privileges of a Fraternity, Sorority, and Independent Living Group

Each member organization of the Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic Association, and Living Group Council is entitled to choose their own members in accordance with the Institute’s regulations and inter/national standards and respective governing council policies. MIT maintains a philosophy that its FSILGs remain undergraduate organizations. Membership is open only to registered undergraduate students at MIT.

Housing may be made available on a limited basis to registered MIT graduate students and students cross-registered at MIT and other area Universities. Residency permission is granted by the House Corporation of each FSILG, but a full resident list of all property occupants must be furnished to the FSILG office at the beginning of each semester. (See Housing, Health, & Safety Policies).

Each member organization of the Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic Association, and Living Group Council is entitled to receive Institute support through the Fraternities, Sororities, and Independent Living Groups Office, specifically in the form of advisement, programs, and services, pending “Good Standing” status with the Institute.
