John S. Reed
Massachusetts Institute of Technology, United StatesBefore being elected chairman of the MIT Corporation in 2010, John S. Reed served as cochairman, then chairman and CEO of CitiCorp/Citigroup from 1984–2000. He was also chairman of the New York Stock Exchange from 2003–2005. Mr. Reed received bachelor’s degrees from MIT and Washington and Jefferson College, as well as a master’s degree from the MIT Sloan School of Management. Mr. Reed was integrally responsible for encouraging the widespread use of the ATM throughout the United States.
