Dissertation Travel Grants
Travel Grants for Dissertation Research in Brazil
MIT-Brazil welcomes applications from any discipline for Dissertation Travel Grants to Brazil. These grants are open to all advanced graduate students who are working on their dissertations, especially students who have not had many opportunities to conduct research in Brazil. The application should include:
- a research statement that briefly describes the dissertation research and explains how Brazil fits into the overall project (1,200 words maximum);
- a preliminary itinerary and the names of contacts and research sites in Brazil, as well as a brief description of prior research in Brazil;
- an estimated budget for up to $4,000; and
- a letter in support of the application from a faculty advisor.

Applications should be submitted by email as a single pdf document including items 1-3 to MIT-Brazil by March 18, 2011. Faculty letters should be emailed separately.
Preference will be given to students who have not received grants in
previous years. Students who have received funding in the past should wait a year to re-apply.
