Program requirements

Portuguese Language: MIT undergrads are required to have 2 years of university-level Portuguese language training with a grade B or better or equivalent proficiency, for an internship in a company. 1 year/2 semesters (minimum) of university-level Portuguese language training with a grade B or better or equivalent proficiency, for an internhip at a university or research institution.

Standing at MIT: You must have a grade-point average of 4.0 or higher

Culture course At least one course that introduces students to important cultural, social, and political aspects of Brazil.

Duration: 3-month summer internship (12 weeks), 6-12 month opportunities available

Training: Participating students will be expected to attend several training sessions and a weekend retreat in the spring that will address topics in Brazilian culture and society and practical questions about living in Brazil.


Application deadline

For summer internships, your application forms must be received by November 12 of the preceding fall.
