Thanks to the generosity of Dr. Chikara Hayashi, the MISTI Hayashi Seed Fund supports budding research collaborations between faculty and research scientists at MIT and their counterparts in Japan, China and Southeast Asia.

Through an annual call for proposals, the MISTI Hayashi Seed Fund primarily supports travel costs for exchange between a team at MIT and colleagues in universities and public research in Japan. Priority will be given to projects that also involve collaboration with China and/or Southeast Asia. Priority will also be given to projects broadly relating to energy and environment. The maximum award is $30,000.

The MISTI Hayashi Seed Fund is a part of MISTI Global Seed Funds. All general MISTI Global Seed Funds criteria, application and evaluation procedures apply.

MISTI Global Seed Funds

The MISTI Hayashi Seed Fund is a part of MISTI Global Seed Funds. MISTI offers seed funds to MIT faculty and researchers to support early-stage international projects and research collaboration. Applicants are encouraged to involve MIT undergraduate and graduate students in their projects.

The deadline for the 2012-2013 grant cycle is September 17.
