Chikara Hayashi Fund

The MIT-Japan Program offers Chikara Hayashi Fund seed funds in conjuction with the MISTI Global Seed Funds.

The Chikara Hayashi Fund grants seed funds for meetings, travel, and symposia between MIT and Japanese researchers. Seed funds provide the resources to launch projects with faculty counterparts in Japan in conjuction with other regions in Asia in the area of ocean engineering, nanotechnology, and environmental sustainability. Please contact Patricia Gercik for additional information.

The maximum award is $20,000. Additional funds of up to $10,000 from the MISTI Global Seed Funds may be available for involving qualified MIT undergraduate and graduate students in the project.

The deadline for the 2008-2009 grant round is October 20, 2008. Winners will be announced in early December 2008.
