About Us :

Founded in 2004, the MIT Energy Club seeks to bring together and educate the MIT energy science, technology, policy, and business communities through initiatives focused on understanding the global energy challenge through fact-based analysis and education. Major initiatives include:

Energy Lecture Series [archives]
A biweekly lecture series featuring prominent speakers from the energy field at MIT & beyond. These lectures include 20 minutes of moderated open discussion. Past speakers from MIT have included professors Jeff Tester, David Marks, and John Deutch. Speakers from the industry and policy spheres have included Greg Yurek, CEO of American Superconductor, and Rob Pratt, former Director of the Massachusetts Renewable Energy Trust.

Energy Discussion Series [archives]
A biweekly document-based energy discussion series at Character's Bar & Grill in Kendall Square lead by graduate student experts in various energy areas. Key documents are distributed before each discussion and open discussion is moderated by the discussion leader. Past discussion topics have included “World & U.S. Energy Overview”, “State-Driven U.S. Renewable Energy Policy”, and “Coal Power: Myths & Realities”.

Energy Tours Series
A series of tours to Boston Area energy facilities. Past tours have included the Hull wind turbine, MIT cogeneration facility, and Brayton Point coal power plant.

Energy Happy Hours
A monthly happy hour to bring the MIT energy community together.

MIT EnergyNight @ the MIT Museum [+]
An annual showcase social event of energy research and entrepreneurship at MIT. Past showcases have included A123 Technologies, American Superconductor, Prof. Gang Chen’s research on “Nanotechnology & Energy”, and many others.

The MIT Energy Conference [+]
An annual spring energy conference meant to bring the MIT energy community together for a campus-wide energy evening showcase, keynote speeches by prominent leaders in the energy sphere, and panel discussions on key contemporary energy questions featuring global energy leaders.

Energy Mentorship Program
This program connects current MIT students with prominent MIT alumni working in the energy field for career mentorship.
