Our card is marked 3 to 9 HCP, with the idea that 10 HCP and a 6-card suit is good enough to open one of a major; we play Precision and open with a Bergen rule of 19. Furthermore, a 5-card suit is common for a weak two bid in this situation. To sort this out, we play modified Ogust rebids over responder's 2NT: 3\C=all 5-carders, 3\D=bad hand, 3\H=medium, 3\S=good. This definitely lets us bid more often, but it has a cost. Stew was afraid to compete over 3\D, fearing I had a stinker. I considered reopening with 3\H on my fine hand, but bidding again after a preempt is very poor style. As a result. we yielded a partscore swing. In fact, we make game in either major, due to the favorable location of the \DK. 2019-05-04 Auburn} [BCFlags "1f"] [DoubleDummyTricks "9aa479aa472119621196"] [OptimumScore "NS 420"] [Score "EW +110"] [Auction "E"] Pass 2H 3D AP [OptimumResultTable "Declarer;Denomination\2R;Result\2R"] N NT 9 N S 10 N H 10 N D 4 N C 7 S NT 9 S S 10 S H 10 S D 4 S C 7 E NT 2 E S 1 E H 1 E D 9 E C 6 W NT 2 W S 1 W H 1 W D 9 W C 6 [Event "Wild Weak Two Bids (2)"] [Site ""] [Date ""] [Board "11"] [West ""] [North "Stew"] [East ""] [South "Pete"] [Dealer "S"] [Vulnerable "None"] [Deal "S:T63.K9853.KQ762. I feel strongly that there is no zone between 1\H and 2\H, where hands are passed. Stew says to get in there, non-vulnerable at matchpoints, so I bid 2\H. This effectively muzzled Stew with his void in my suit, so we missed a slam! And they made 2\S! Maybe I was supposed to back in with my good second suit. This is two failures out of many weak two bids. I have not been keeping track of our successes on other boards. I definitely have my doubts about wild weak two bids. https://3nt.xyz (c) Pete Matthews Jr } [BCFlags "1f"] [DoubleDummyTricks "744c5744c56991868918"] [OptimumScore "EW -500"] [Score "EW +110"] [Auction "S"] 2H 2S AP [OptimumResultTable "Declarer;Denomination\2R;Result\2R"] N NT 7 N S 4 N H 4 N D 12 N C 5 S NT 7 S S 4 S H 4 S D 12 S C 5 E NT 6 E S 9 E H 9 E D 1 E C 8 W NT 6 W S 8 W H 9 W D 1 W C 8
