MITES participants spend a rigorous 30-35 hours in classes and lab each week and receive daily assignments. The Engineering Design / Robotics course culminates in exciting (and always hard-fought) competitions which have become a program highlight. The Genomics course ends with informative poster presentations by the student researchers, an event designed to simulate a scientific research conference. The Internet Programming class concludes with student presententations of interactive web sites that they have designed and built.
In addition to course study, students have the opportunity to discuss career options with MIT faculty members, MIT graduate students, and practicing scientists and engineers. Field trips have included the MIT Chemical Engineering Laboratories, the Media Lab and local sponsors' lab sites.
