MIT GCF Activities -- OutreachWe love to share the good news of Jesus Christ and how he's changed our lives. About once a semester, we do a large-scale outreach event, either on our own or with other UCO fellowships. We invite a well-known outside speaker who is an expert on a controversial Christian topic. In 2000-2001, we had:
The attendance has been very high for these events (about 300 people), and several of the attendees have expressed an interest in knowing more about Christ. We will be starting our Alpha course in February 2003, covering the basics of Christianity. We also feel that it is important to make sure the people of different nation alities and backgrounds were aware of the love of Jesus Christ. In particular, many mainland Chinese have never heard about Christianity. So on Valentine's Day, 2001, we sponsored an outreach event, conducted entirely in Mandarin, targeted at Chinese students and scholars. The program included testimonies from three Chinese students who have recently become Christians, skits, and food cooked by our members. The attendance was almost 100 people, and several of them attended an investigative bible discussion group and have since become Christians. We are very encouraged and will target other ethnic groups for future events. To learn more about GCF, please e-mail:mit-gcf-info@mit.edu |
