About the Author: Robert D. Crane

Dr. Crane is founder and coordinator of the Center for Civilization Renewal. After earning a J.D. in comparative legal systems in 1959 from Harvard Law School and founding the Harvard International Law Journal as the first president of the Harvard International Law Society, he worked for a decade in Washington think-tanks. In 1962, he co-founded the Center for Strategic and International Studies.

From 1963 to 1968, he was principal foreign policy adviser to Richard M. Nixon. In 1969, Nixon appointed him Deputy Director of the National Security Council in the White House, and in 1981 President Reagan appointed him U.S. Ambassador to the United Arab Emirates. Dr. Crane has served as Director of the Legal Division of the American Muslim Council and is the founding President of the Muslim American Bar Association.

Dr. Crane is married to Diana Huntress, and they have five grown children. His hobbies include long- distance running and mountaineering. He has published 10 books and 50 professional articles on comparative legal systems, global strategy, and information management. His great-grandfather was one of the financial founders of Northwestern University.
