President ·
Shall be the face of the organization and
manage and coordinate the affairs of the organization. ·
Shall be responsible for promotion of MITMSA
activities and fulfillment of its objectives with the cooperation of the
other members of the Executive Committee. 2.
Vice President · Shall assist the President in his duties and shall be the default moderator in case the President is absent and no moderator has been specified. 3.
Secretary · Shall be responsible for the records and files of the organization, produce and archive meeting minutes for all office, executive, and general meetings, and keep record of ongoing and upcoming MITMSA. 4.
Treasurer · Shall, with the sanction of the Executive Committee, administer the finances of the organization and maintain records of all financial transactions of the organization. · Shall make periodic and biennial reports of the finances of the organization to the Executive Committee. 5. PUBLICITY AND EVENTS OFFICE 1.
Publicity Chair · Shall understand the policies for advertisement and shall coordinate with Institute governed advertisement outlets. · Shall assist all committees with the publicity aspects of their events including but not limited to designing posters, emailing, and reserving spaces for publicity purposes. 2.
Social Chair (sister) 3.
Social Chair (brother) · Shall coordinate events including, but not limited to BBQs, Semester Inter-MSA Dinners, study breaks, and athletic events. Shall maintain open communication with MSAs in the Greater Boston area. 4.
Lecture/Events Coordinator · Shall plan periodic lectures, securing speakers and venues at least two months ahead of the event including Ramadan lectures. May also provide for impromptu lectures in addition to planned events. 5.
External Relations Officer · Shall handle in a timely manner non-MITMSA inquiries that are directed to the Executive Committee email list. · Shall work with the MITMSA officers to coordinate with outside and campus organizations. 6.
Webmaster · Shall maintain and update the contents of the MITMSA website including the calendar and events page, coordinating with the Office of Events and Publicity as necessary. 7. Member(s) at Large (1 or 2)
RELIGIOUS OFFICE 1. Halaqa Coordinator (sister) 2. Halaqa Coordinator (brother) · Shall coordinate periodic halaqas and opportunities for Islamic learning for both genders. 3. Da’awah Coordinator · Shall overlook general Da’awah initiatives of the organizations. Organize the weekly Da’awah Table. · Shall procure Islamic awareness and Islamic knowledge material and maintain contact with editors and publishing houses as necessary. 4.
Chaplain Liaison · Shall, with the help of the Office of Religious Events and the Publicity Chair, coordinate with religious groups and interfaith organizers to assure MITMSA participation in interfaith events. · Shall support the MITMSA Imam in scheduling Friday Prayer speakers as far in advance as possible. · Shall join W11-Religious Center committees as necessary to support the chaplain or advocate for the MITMSA. 5. SERVICE OFFICE 1. Musallah Officer · Shall plan and oversee maintenance of the Musallah. · Shall be responsible for enforcing Executive Committee policies regarding the use of the Musallah. · Shall plan and oversee fast-breaking in the Musallah during Ramadan and as necessary. · Shall collect mail. 2.
Community Service Coordinator ·
Shall maintain connections
between MITMSA and campus service organizations, foremost the · Shall organize and participate in regularly scheduled service trips to locations such as local shelters and soup kitchens. 3.
International Development Coordinator · Shall work with campus international development initiatives to promote development, especially in poverty stricken nations and in the Muslim World. · Shall work with the Events and Publicity Office to promote international development on MIT campus and in the Greater Boston area. 4. Journalism
Scout · Shall write or assign writers for the Tech or other local media weekly (during the academic year), at least one week in advance of the editorial deadline. · Shall stay abreast of world and local politics, economics, and events in keeping with this task. · Shall pay special attention to local and campus media with an eye for useful or unusual articles towards stimulating dialogue within the MITMSA. 5.
Alumni Chair · Shall maintain and expand the pool of active alumni who are interested in networking, reunion, and fundraising initiatives of the MITMSA. · Shall assist in the planning of alumni activities and fundraising events in coordination with the Office of Events and Publicity. 6.
