Elected Officers
President
Defines direction
and objectives for the club. Makes sure that activities take place. Appoints
various officers. Deals with UA, GSC, and the ASA. Makes requests for
keys. Generally liases with MIT and coordinates club activities.
Makes policy decisions. Generally keeps the club going (well, sometimes).
Runs BOD meetings. Negotiates with Nigerian money launderers (the mail
you get is quite amazing)
V.P.
Usually aids the president
or pursues independent projects. Helps in event organizing. Makes sure
the president does not get himself in trouble :) Handles president's duties
if necessary.
Treasurer
Manages the
club's finances, taxes, etc. It is actually quite a bit more work than
in other clubs, since we do have significant money flows. Otherwise free
to pursue any club related activity...
Secretary
Takes minutes
during meetings. Manages the club mailing and membership lists. Puts
trip reports on the webpage. Manages the athena locker.
BOD member at large

Help out in general club activities. Run trips. Help decide
on equipment purchases. Make sure that officers do not slack off...Generally
keep the club running smoothly. This position is intended to be open-ended
and gives quite a bit of power in setting policy. Generally given to
old-timers :-) who know the workings of the club.
All elected officers have discretionary spending allowance for club
purchases.
