Curriculum

How to Apply to the MIT Midcareer Acceleration Program

The MIT Midcareer Acceleration Program (MAP) admits individuals who have the academic and professional background to succeed at MIT-level academic work and the potential to benefit from this program. Students are admitted based on the overall quality of the application.

Application forms

Prospective students may submit an application by filling out the form online or by printing the form (PDF) then faxing or mailing it to the MAP office. Complete applications also include these documents:

  • Two recommendation letters from individuals familiar with your professional or educational strengths
  • College and postgraduate transcripts or records
  • A resume or career summary
  • A statement of the applicant’s educational and professional objectives (1-2 pages)
  • Participants are also required to attend an info session or schedule a 30 - 60 minute consultation session with MAP staff.

Application timetable

August 15: Application deadline

Information Sessions: Informal Information Sessions will be scheduled for potential MAP participants on the following dates in 2008: July 2, August 5, and August 13. If you are interested in attending, please let us know by submitting your information session request for details.

Regular Tuition

Regular tuition for 2008-2009 is $9,850 + $125 Student Life fee. This covers the entire ten-month program including MIT registration (one course) for the fall semester. There is an additional fee of $5,000 + $125 Student Life fee if the student elects to stay at MIT to do research in the spring. This fee covers spring semester registration of up to 9 units.

MIT Alumni Tuition

Tuition for MIT Alumni for 2008-2009 is $7,880 + $125 Student Life fee. This covers the entire ten-month program including MIT registration (one course) for the fall semester. There is an additional fee of $5,000 + $125 Student Life fee if the student elects to stay at MIT to do research in the spring. This fee covers spring semester registration of up to 9 units.
